People are so very much excited about the new Apple iPad, as it features a 9.7-inch HD display, capacitive multitouch interface and cheap 3G data plans, but most of us didn’t notice one feature which is a benefit but drawback at the same time and it may prove to be more of a bug, because “The iPad runs the iPhone OS“.

As it is well known for the iPhone OS that it can’t run background processes. It can’t have two apps open at the same time. For example you can’t chat while watching a video. You can’t read the news while listening to Music. You can’t switch between a word processor and a spreadsheet, or a Web browser and a presentation.
Here arises a simple question that why the iPad couldn’t get its own multithreaded OS to begin with? Anyways, other major bugs in iPad’s iPhone OS are a lack of support for Adobe Flash. This Flash incompatibility also bans any Web video player that isn’t Quicktime or Youtube. And sadly there will be no Vimeo or Hulu or Yahoo Video for you on the iPad.
Steve Jobs himself showed a failed Flashplayer icon during a web surfing demo, so it is very much clear that Jobs himself knows the feature limitation, which won’t be solved until HTML5 reaches full adoption, I think.
iPad SDK is in the wild, so it is expected that developers could create new and innovative applications and content to take advantage of the iPad form factor, display, and interface.
