Sadly, it is true that thousands of Windows OS sent to death after an update from BitDefender. This problem was caused by a tricky virus definition which identified a number of essential system files and components as a trojan virus, as a result the OS crashed and failed to reboot.

This is so embarrassing news for BitDefender folks and for the users as well, now it seems that the virus killer I mean BitDefender update also identified components of its own software as harmful, which made the death of virus killer itself.

BitDefender’s lack of response on this issue is very disappointing. They don’t have any kind of information on the front page of their website, even thought this is a major outage with their product. They don’t have anything in their Knowledge Base, either. The only thing I’ve seen so far from official BitDefender people has been a half-assed apology and no real solutions.
BitDefender has advised users to use Windows Restore to get back to the last known safe configuration, what if I don’t have set Windows restore point? The company has rolled out number of patches for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 64-bit versions.
