Bugs are part of any software, without bugs no software is complete, Almost every software arrives in the market is not always bug free in the beginning. Today I am going to tell you about some of the bugs residing in Motorola Droid X.
With the release of Motorola Droid X (which is considered to be Motorola’s best smartphone) users are already complaining about the bugs. I Googl’ed these bugs and I tried to compile them, I will provide some Droid X bug fixes as well.
If we consider the Droid X features, then it is definitely an iPhone 4 killer. But bugs always reside in the deice. Some of the Droid X bugs are worst! Some are normal and some needs fixes from Motorola. First see the list of these bugs:
- Dead Battery Bug
- Volume Bug
- GPS Activity Bug
- CPU Sleep Bug
- Wi-Fi Bug
- Display Bug
- Firmware Bug
Above is the list of some of the encountered bugs. Let me discuss each of them one by one.
- Dead Battery Bug: First in the list is the dead battery bug in Droid X, after charging your Droid X the battery of the device remains only 15%, just after 7 hours. Strange though! You would get stuck if you don’t own an extra charger. Another thing is that if you charge your Droid X you will notice that nothing appears on the screen and battery remains on the same state. Time to replace your battery? The only fix to the dead battery problem is change your Droid X battery.
- Volume Bug: Well well!! There is a volume bug in Droid X as well. Verizon and Motorola has admitted this bug, I don’t they are planning to fix it up. The bug says that the volume of the device is very low as compared to other devices. Most of the users are complaining about this bug, and there are numerous websites, press and forums raising the volume issue. There should be fix for this bug.
- GPS Activity Bug / CPU Sleep Bug: If you open any application on your Droid X (which supports GPS), then your phone would not go in sleep mode. Now what to do? Switch GPS off and start all over again. This will definitely effect your device’s battery, this is one reason for the dead battery. Now you can test it as well. This is potentially a major software bug in Droid X. If you guys want to test this bug, then reboot your Droid X with GPS on, install Spare Parts, plug in your phone, now let your phone go to sleep mode for 3 minutes or so. Note the Running % in Spare Parts, it would be very low.
- Wi-Fi Bug: This is quite worst now! Droid X can’t find the hidden Wifi network. Droid X can’t detect the WiFi. Some of the users faced this issue, and only got 2 bars; which is quite slower than the 3G network. How can you test it? Connect two routers and stand only 2 feet away from either router, bang! Droid X can detect any router! There is still no fix for this bug. I hope Froyo update will fix this issue.
- Display Bug: Some of the users are complaining about the dead screen bug in Droid X. You might have noticed that the phone’s screen suddenly starts to flicker. Some of the users are complaining about the phone display becomes useless sometimes. Sometimes Droid X screen is fine, but after ten hours or so it becomes buggy. This problem is quite severe for those who has encountered it. Verizon and Motorola are much aware of this bug.
- Firmware Bug: Just imagine if your Droid X has a firmware bug? You would be shocked. One of the Droid X users found out that there is a firmware bug in the device. If you terminate the “USB” app, after doing so your device will no more be able to accept a charge via USB or AC power. Not only this! You phone will not connect to a PC via USB. This is quite severe, I hope Motorola will fix this bug very soon. This problem resides in Droid X which is not rooted yet!
- Contacts Bug in Droid X: Just notice that if you have transferred your contacts from your old Samsung Omnia. Duh! You can’t see your contacts. I haven’t found out its fix yet! I will post it as soon as it get it!
Droid X is definitely an iPhone 4 competitor, I personally think that Droid X owns! iPhone 4 sucks with its battery life, charger issue and most importantly iPhone 4 comes with an annoying Antenna bug.
