Recently, Sophos Security Threat Report 2010 has unveiled that nearly two thirds (which is almost the 60 percent) of businesses believe that social networks like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace are the biggest threat to security.

Security Threat 2010 report also states that MySpace had 18 percent risk, Twitter is second with 17 percent of votes. LinkedIn is less threatening with only 4 percent of votes. But Facebook is more prone to threats with 60%.
Graham Cluely from Sophos in a blog said:
Facebook is by far the largest social network — and you’ll find more bad apples in the biggest orchard,
Graham further added that the security team at Facebook works very hard to to get over these threats, but keeping the track of 400 million users is near to impossible as it is very very tough job to do.
On his blog Graham further wrote that:
When Facebook rolled-out its new recommended privacy settings late last year, it was “a backwards step, encouraging many users to share their information with everybody on the internet.
He has warned users on LinkedIn are considered to be the less threatening, but it still provides hackers with a sizable pool of information due to its corporate nature.
Graham writes that the targeted attacks against the companies are not practical yet, but the hackers and attackers are getting more and more critical information about your organization from these sites. This makes it much easier to send a malicious attachment to the person whose computer hackers want to hack.
