Panda Security labs has issued a result of the recently conducted survey. This survey was conducted in 20 countries, in more than 10,000 firms having more than 1,000 PCs. In this survey Panda Security revealed that more than half of the firms are infected with malware, main and only reason of spreading of malware is USB stick.
USB malware then copies itself to other storage devices and automatically starts its working. When any other USB is connected to a PC it then silently copies itself to the stick, and the chain continues. Same was the case with Mariposa malware which infected more than 3,000 HTC smartphones.
Survey further revealed that almost 21% of malware spreads through email and 14% from downloads. Panda Security Labs found that malware infections increased in United States in 2009 to 2010, from 44% to 46%. Viruses are most common in the category of the malware. 45% of the malicious code sneaks into a network.
You guys are advised to stay away from malware, you can do so in different ways. Avoid unknown and suspicious links. Don’t entertain any junk email or an email from unknown sender. Use a good antivirus program, update it on regular basis. Be safe!
