It seems that HTC HD2 is a device to which hackers are more used to. Yes, hackers have managed to get hold of HTC HD2. HTC HD2 has been hacked to run Android thrice , now the HTC HD2 has been hacked to run MeeGo Linux. This has been done by an independent iPhone and Macintosh developer and his name is Steven Troughton-Smith, he managed to run the MeeGo Linux on one of the most awesome smartphones.

We all know that the hardware of HD2 is much more similar to that of Nexus One. Smith followed the instructions given at the MeeGo’s wiki page and performed the hack.

He said that he has followed the instructions given at the wiki page, in his instructions he noted that he used the latest Ubuntu kernel for hacking HD2 and he modified the initrd.gz then he combined  these with the MeeGo rootfs image and finally he tweaked the homescreen and got success for his hack.

To run some apps, he installed an Android’s adb daemon to mount the a shell over USB. Troughton used a different kernel and got some improvement but he is still working out to sort out some problems.

Have a look at the video showing that HTC HD2 runs MeeGo 1.1.
