It is a story long time ago, when Sony launched one of the best product of its time, named as Floppy Disk 3.5. Sony introduced it way back in 1981, and Sony began the official sale in Japan in year 1983. When I was a kid the first storage media I saw was the floppy diskette, it was an awesome storage media. It was easy portable.

I was so sad to hear that Sony is no more supporting 3.5 Inch Floppy in Japan. Yes guys Sony will be discontinuing the sale of its classical floppy diskette in 2011. Sony admits that 3.5 Inch floppy disk was introduced in 1981 and was made official in Japan right after 2 years. Up til 2010 Sony has managed to ship almost 47 million disks within Japan, but since then there was a big fall in the sale of floppy disks.
In 2008 Sony had 40% of the market share in 3.5 inch floppy disks, and within Japan, Sony had 70% of it. The main and the only reason behind the discontinuing of its sale is the introduction of new storage media like CDs, DVDs, and USB drives.
