About a week ago we heard a very shocking and heart breaking news and the was nothing but that news of Amy Winehouse’s death. Famous British singer died on 23rd of this month, she was a winner of five Grammy awards. On the discussed day she was found dead in her apartment in London.
Hackers took advantage of her death and just after two days they came up with different kinds of scams and they released these scams for the users surfing the web around the web. Cyber crooks designed different and unique strategies to spread and disperse these scams and viruses. Facebook was also used to trick the users and to steal to credentials via different Facebook apps.
Hackers also tried and generated some spam emails, this trick was more dangerous as emails were sent to many random users using different email services. Subject of the spam emails was:
“Exclusive photo of the body of Amy Winehouse found. Drink and drugs are seen clearly.”
Once the user clicks the link, a file starts to download which is disguised as as a video or an image but in actual that is a virus.
Facebook scam was just like the scam of Osama Bin Laden, on Facebook there is a fake video with title:
“Amy Winehouse SHOCKING video Before Death”.
After clicking the link, scam is posted to the wall of victim’s friends. After that user is redirected to some fake webpage. Most of the times survey asks to enter your mobile number, so that it could be used to initiate some malicious activity.
In short please do not fall for these kind of scams and please be careful before clicking the rogue links.
