Well the title says it all, at least for the year 2010. I don’t need to comment any further. But for those who favor Apple for certain reasons. Let me first tell you why I have given this title.
Just because of the reason that a security company Secunia has claimed that consumers reported more flaws in Apple products than any other software company, I mean in first six months of current year 2010. Apple is leading the race, then we have Oracle then at number 3 our beloved Microsoft was No. 3.
Apple was at number 2 place but after the first half of this year, now it is leading all the way through. Report released by Secunia compares different vendors, including Sun, Microsoft, HP, IBM, Adobe, Google, CISCO,VMware, Mozilla along with Apple.
Objective of the report is not just to compare the OS performance but the overall software of the companies. For example report just not consider MacOS, it also give the detailed list of flaws in QuickTime and iTunes, of course the third party apps (like Flash, Java) as well.
Report also compares the Web browsers, in general software category, let me clear one thing that this report DOES NOT compare the severity of the flaws it only count the number of flaws in different products of the companies. Secunia noted that almost 80% of the flaws are “moderate,” “low” or “not critical.”
In the 19 paged report Secunia also says that these flaws can be alarming for next six months as well. It is also alarming that number of vulnerabilities are doubling every two years.
Report also analyze Microsoft products individually, in which Internet Explorer tops the vulnerability list. In third party apps Mozilla tops the list, with Apple holding the second place. More details are here.
