After the sad news of plane crash in Pakistan, there is another sad news this time it is for internet users especially for the Facebook users. Yes guys it is the worst news to tell you that details of more than 100 million Facebook pages has been leaked on torrent sites. This data was leaked yesterday at 16:58:11 GMT by phatwarez, there are almost 255 seeders and more than 650 leechers to this torrent.
This data is compiled by a hacker of company Skull Security. Size of the data is approximately 2.8GB. Ron Bowes developed a program to snatch user data from Facebook. He took all this data from Facebook’s open access directory.
Main and the only reason why this data was exposed is that users don’t set their privacy settings and allow search engines to crawl into their profiles. Ron has more than 171 million entries in his crawler program.
Now here are the details of the leaked files; each file contains a Facebook URL for each profile, account name, addresses, dates of birth and phone numbers.
According to the analysts, this act is not illegal, because of the fact that all the information is made public for other users. If you access any of the pages you can easily go through user’s friend list his/her pictures, even his/her friend’s pictures as well.
Meanwhile you guys are advised to change your privacy settings. Don’t allow strangers to view your profile. Apply other privacy settings as well, as prescribed by Facebook team.
