PCWorld has exclusively covered this story that there is a major security flaw in the Skype for Mac. This flaw has been disclosed by a security researcher, according to him this flaw can take control of your computer. Skype which is serving Mac users as well can be easily exploited to create a malware which is harmful for Mac users. Some of the details are here. This exploit was disclosed by an Australian researcher he also published a proof of concept. Well, the scope of the threat is not unknown yet but we can say that by creating a worm using this exploit hacker can take full control of the affected computer which is extremely dangerous.
According to the Skype, the scope of the threat is not that much vulnerable. Skype’s personal further clarified that a message from hacker can crash the Skype for Mac but he can’t get hold of the victim’s machine due to strict privacy settings.
Skype official also added that, only version 5 and onwards are affected by the fatal security flaw, previous versions are not affected plus only client is affected. Most of you would be thinking about the fix, so make a note that there is yet no fix for this flaw. But there is an update expected next week.
